Annual Model EU Workshops
Summer School 2024:
The first edition of the EUCA Model EU Summer Workshop was held between May 31, 2024, and June 10, 2024. It involved a number of interviews and orientation sessions held online, and 2 days of in-person workshops at the KIMEP University campus in Almaty on June 9 - 10.
The event brought together around 40 students from 6 different universities in Almaty, including KIMEP University, Suleiman Demirel University (SDU), University of International Business (UIB), Al-Farabi KazNU, Narxoz University, Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages, and 3 high school students from “Abay” and “Nemere” high schools.
The sessions were opened by Dr. Damian A. Riviez, Vice President of Academic Affairs KIMEP University, and Mr. Maciej Madalinski, Deputy Ambassador and Head of the Political, Press and Information Section of the European Union Delegation in Kazakhstan joined the in-person sessions to greet the participants personally.

Summer School 2025:
The second edition of the EUCA Model EU Summer Workshop was held between May 19, 2025, and May 26, 2025. It involved a number of interviews and orientation sessions held online, and 2 days of in-person workshops at the KIMEP University campus in Almaty on May 25 - 26.
The event focused on the topic “Strengthening People-to-People Ties: EU Visa Facilitation for Citizens of Kazakhstan,” which was especially relevant and interesting to the student participants.
The event attracted 107 applications from KIMEP students, other Almaty universities, and high school seniors. After a competitive selection process by the event coordinators and student organizing team, 28 participants were selected to represent 27 EU member states and Kazakhstan (as an Observer). Final participants came from KIMEP, Al-Farabi KazNU, AlmaU, UIB, KAU, and KazNPU, ensuring a diverse and inclusive simulation environment.
The second day was opened by Dr. Damian A. Riviez, Vice President of Academic Affairs at KIMEP University, and Ms. Aleška Simkić, the EU Ambassador to Kazakhstan. They welcomed participants and encouraged them to engage in productive and insightful debate. Ms. Simkić stayed for the entire event, sharing real EU policy cases and offering an inspiring experience.
