The EU as a Role Model

for Economic and Political Regional Integration

"The EU as a Role Model for Economic & Political Regional Integration" is a brand new innovative course particularly recommended for students of International Relations, Political Science, and European Studies. The course is developed especially for this Jean Monnet module.

Starting in the spring semester of 2024, the course will be team-taught by three professors at the College of Social Sciences, KIMEP University, and will feature additional guest lectures.

The academic course offers an excellent opportunity for the students to enhance their knowledge and skills in the fields of regional integration and European studies. Additionally, the course helps to shape students' perspectives on the challenges of and potentials for regional integration in Central Asia.

Meet the Instructors

Section: Economic & Political Models of Regional Integration

Dr. Nadeem Naqvi

Dr. Naqvi is an economist, professor and researcher in the fields of development economics, theories of value and theory of individual choice and social welfare. Having started his academic career in 1984, previously he has worked as a lecturer and economics theory researcher at AUBG, Justus Liebig University, Central Michigan University, and Middle Tennessee State University. Since 2015, he has been a member of the faculty of Economics at KIMEP University.

Section: Regional Integration in Central Asia

Dr. Aigul Adibayeva

Dr. Adibayeva, a Candidate of Sciences in Political Science, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of International Relations and Regional Studies while also serving as the Associate Dean of the College of Social Sciences at KIMEP University. Her publications revolve around various areas of study, including Central Asian studies, national processes in the Republic of Kazakhstan after independence, political parties, and the political transformation of the Central Asian states.

Section: Integration & Disintegration in Central Asia: 1991 to present

Dr. Nygmet Ibadildin

Dr. Ibadildin graduated in 1995 from Kazakh State University majoring in Philosophy, continued with an MA in International relations at California State University at Fresno, and defended his PhD dissertation in 2011 at the University of Tampere on "Role Of New & Old Institutional Framework in Combating Resource Curse in Kazakhstan". He is currently the Chair of International Relations and Regional Studies at KIMEP University.
